As I climbed the fancy, marble staircase to the room Jason and I were staying in, the railing swayed.
Or maybe it was me.
After my conversation with Ben, everything seemed off balance.

Jason sat on the edge of the kingsized bed, staring blankly out the window, leaning his elbows on his knees and resting his chin in his hands.
He looked distant and vulnerable.

He turned around as if he sensed me watching him and his face broke into a smile.
"Hey, Sweetheart. Where were you?" He said.

"I was just talking to one of the maids." I didn't want him to know I was asking about my father- about my past.
Something Jason wanted me to forget.

I smiled back and walked towards him. Jason grabbed my hips gently and pulled me down onto his lap so I was straddling him. I wrapped my arms loosely around his neck and admired his breathtaking features.

"I'm so happy you're in my life." His thumb ran down the side of my face, pausing to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
His hands slid around to the back of my neck, tangling in my hair. He urged me towards him and pressed his lips against mine.

His fingers trailed over my skin and his teeth tugged on my bottom lip.
"God, I missed you," he murmured against my lips.

I nodded, unable to say the words.
Because as much as I'd missed Jason, I felt damaged and broken in ways no one could fix.
Jason held my shoulders gently and leaned away from me, studying my face, I could see his eyes in the dim light, they were filled with concern.
"You're shaking again. Did something happen?" He asked.

"I'm just cold."

He wrapped his arms around me, heat radiating from his body into mine.
"I was lost without you," Jason tugged me closer and buried his face in my neck. "You were the only thing I could think about." He mumbled.

"I didn't want to think about you."
The words slipped from my mouth before I could stop them.
His shoulders tensed.
Tears pricked my eyes.
"Not because my feelings changed, I just-"
I stopped, I didn't know how to finish.

"What?" Hope edged its way into Jason's voice. I shook my head and closed my eyes.
Jason pulled me against his chest. His heart was beating fast.
"Talk to me, Y/n. You're scaring me."

Tell him.

"I didn't think you'd come back." I admitted.

He stiffened.
"Y/n, you mean the whole damn world to me," He mumbled. He let his fingers slide down my arm. "I wouldn't ever not come back for you, you're my life" he inhaled deeply. "You're my everything." He breathed.

I shook my head. "You don't have to say that." I reassured.

"But I mean it, Y/n. I've never felt this way about anyone before."

I lifted my head off his chest and stared at him. "You must have felt this way about someone." I said.

Jason shook his head.
"No ones ever had this kind of effect on me, I've never cared about anything. But you... I can't imagine being unlucky enough to ever lose you." He said.

"You're not gonna lose me, not now." I whispered.

Jason inhaled deeply and his breath shook. "When you got stuck in the razor wire and I left you, I told myself for five minutes that I had no choice... but then I had a breakdown, it killed me to take in the fact that you were in someone else's hands. No one can take care of you the way I can." He caressed my cheek lovingly.
Every part of me ached for him. I rested my palm on his chest, above his heart.
Jason laid both of his hands on top of mine and held them there. "You're the only thing I care about." He murmured.
