Your POV

"Can you explain your disappearance to us, Miss Y/l/n?"

This was the fourth time the officers had asked me this question within the past hour.
I had been sat in a square, empty room for what seemed like a lifetime, with only two, overweight cops for company, who constantly prodded at my lies.

"I ran away." I said for the fourth time, rolling my eyes uncooperatively.

"Are you sure your disappearance has nothing to do with Jason McCann?" Asked one of the officers.

I flinched at his name and took an unsteady breath.
Jason was all I could think about, and without him, I was lost.
I never thought I would be, but I was.

"I've never heard of him." I said in a hushed whisper.

"Come on, Miss Y/l/n." The officer to the left leaned forward in his seat and rested his elbows on the table, binding his large hands together. "Everyone's heard of Jason McCann."

"Not me." I shrugged, sinking my teeth into my lower lip.

The officer sighed and shook his head. "Okay, we'll have to go with what you say." He flipped through some of the papers in front of him before continuing. "Why did you decide to run away?"

"My parents died and I didn't know how to deal with it." I said quickly.

"Your parents died in a plane explosion, am I correct?" He asked.
I nodded.
"And you understand that the explosion was caused by Jason McCann?"
I nodded again.

"So you have heard of Jason McCann?" The other officer caught me out, a teasing twinkle glistened in his beady eyes.

"No, officer." I said innocently. "I'm just agreeing with whatever you're saying, maybe it'll make this pointless meeting quicker and I can go back to the hell hole that you've been
keeping me in."

It was practically a prison for 'troubled teens' and I was far from troubled.
I was just confused, heartbroken and mourning.
But I guess the officers were afraid I would 'run away' again.

The other officer eyed me awkwardly, quickly dismissing my bitterness. "How did you end up in the razor wire?"

I looked down at my legs, I was wearing shorts today, exposing the web of white, spidery scars that constantly reminded me of the way my life had dramatically changed.
"I slipped."

"And what about the other guy in there, can you explain that?" He mumbled suspiciously.

"No." There was no point even trying for an excuse.

"You don't know what happened?" The other officer pushed.

"No." I avoided eye contact.

Surrendering to my uncooperative behaviour, the two men sighed and closed their files. "Alright," said one of them. "I think she's had enough for one day."

"Agreed." Said the other, getting up out of his chair. "We'll have someone come and take you back to your dorm."

Next thing I knew, I was alone in a room with nothing but a bed and a tiny, barred window.
