Your POV

It's crazy how time flies when you're having fun.

Five days passed too quickly, and in our final hours in the Maldives, Jason managed to convince me to go on a jet-ski with him.
He had been begging me like a child ever since he found out there even were jet-skis here.

So now here we were, dressed in bright orange life-jackets, being lectured by a foreign man about something that was obviously to do with how to ride these insane things.
I gingerly clutched onto Jason's waist as we bobbed up and down beneath the vehicle, whilst we both stared blankly at the man, who didn't speak one word of our language.
"What's he saying?" Jason muttered to me, as if he expected me to know.

"He's definitely warning us not to go too fast." I nodded, tightening my grip from behind him.
I wasn't the best swimmer when it came down to deep water - especially water that was invested with fish and most probably sharks as well, so I was dramatically worried about falling off.

"Pretty sure he's telling us not to hold back, babe." Jason replied with a chuckle, talking right over the wrinkled man's foreign explanation.
He gave no warning before suddenly grabbing onto the handles and the vehicle jerked into life.
I let out a quiet squeal as it cut through the crystal water, drenching the old man back at the beach who was now yelling and shaking his fist in the air.
My laughter was audible to Jason, who seemed to be extremely experienced with this activity, and he echoed it back at me, and took it as an opportunity to speed up.

Cold water sprayed at my bare legs, and the wind blew my hair back and gave me that desired free feeling.
In some ways, feeling free was now ironic;
I only felt free when I was with the man who stole my freedom in the first place...
But the kidnap was behind us, and I was actually glad that it happened.

It made me who I was.
