The following morning had passed rather quickly and before Lexi knew it, Professor McGonagall was hurrying over to where the Potter's sat with Cedric at the Gryffindor table.

"Potter, Diggory, the champions have to come down onto the grounds now... You have to get ready for your first task. Miss Potter you may come too, seeing as you're Mr Potter's coach."

Nervously, Harry and Cedric stood from the bench, Lexi followed suit and wrapped an arm around her brother's shoulders in comfort. The three of them walked to the edge of the forest, but when they approached the clump of trees behind which the enclosure would be clearly visible, they saw that a tent had been erected, its entrance facing them, screening the dragons from view.

McGonagall instructed them to go inside and listen to Mr Bagman as he explained the challenge.

He held out a bag as he explained, "– from which you will each select a small model of the thing you are about to face! There are different - er - varieties, you see. And I have to tell you something else too...ah, yes...your task is to collect the golden egg!"

Lexi could tell he was trying not to say anything that would elude to the dragons, probably under the impression they still did not know about the real task.

"Ladies first," he said, offering it to Fleur Delacour.

Fleur pulled out the Welsh Green and Viktor got the Chinese Fireball. Cedric looked at Lexi before putting his hand in the bag and retrieving the Swedish Short-Snout. There was only one left, the Hungarian Horntail— and sure enough that was what Harry pulled out, with a number four on its back.

"Well, there you are!" said Bagman. "You have each pulled out the dragon you will face, and the numbers refer to the order in which you are to take on the dragons, do you see? Now, I'm going to have to leave you in a moment, because I'm commentating. Mr. Diggory, you're first, just go out into the enclosure when you hear a whistle, all right? Now...Harry...could I have a quick word? Outside?"

Harry looked at Bagman then at Lexi, she didn't like the vibes he gave off, so she put a hand on Harry's shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Mr Bagman, but I need to go through somethings with my brother before the challenge." Lexi smiled terribly fake, "I'm sure you don't mind, or course?"

Bagman looked taken aback, "Oh-oh of course not! No, go ahead!" then he quickly scurried away.

The Potter siblings walked away from Cedric for a moment and Lexi put her hands on Harry's shoulders, looking into his eyes that were so much like their mother's.

"Okay, look," she began, "There's really not much else I can say to you. Get your broom quick so you're not uneven for too long, distract the dragon and get the egg. That's it, that's all you have to do."

Harry nervously smiled his best, "I bet it's gonna be a lot harder than that."

Lexi tried to smile, but her nerves were getting the best of her, "Don't think about it."

The older girl's eyes flickered to the entrance of the tent where Hermione and Ron were hovering, she pointed her brother to them and he left her. Lexi made her way back to Cedric who was sitting on a bench behind part of the tent canvas wall now.

"Hey," she said softly with her best smile.

Cedric didn't look up as she sat, "Hey."

Lexi slipped her hand into his fidgeting ones and gripped it tightly, bringing it into her lap and covering it with both of hers.

"I don't know why you're worrying," she said nonchalantly, his gaze flicked to her curiously but hers stayed on their hands, "I mean, it's just a dragon, nothing big right?"

Cedric chuckled unbelievingly, "You're joking right?" The answer was yes, and he saw that when she genuinely smiled at him. "Only you, Lex."

Then Cedric's ease faded and he was back to nearly pulling his hair out, Lexi was worried, she lifted one hand to his cheek and pushed his face gently to face her.

"Look at me, Cedric."

The older boy looked at his best friend, her eyes were full of emotion, his were full of fear.

"You've got this!" her voice was soft, gentle. "I know you can do it and so does everyone out there!" her hand on his cheek moved to push a curl out of his eyes. "You have my support. Who cares if you don't get first! What matter is that you do your best and come back alive!"

Cedric's eye bore into hers, a new light in his gaze. Slowly, he pulled his hand from her grasp and placed it on her cheek, they both smiled. Carefully, Cedric pulled Lexi closer until they were each a breath away, both of their eyes flicked to the other's mouth before back to their eyes.

Lips on lips. A sweet, gentle kiss shared between two best friends.

"Diggory!" was heard somewhere in the tent.

Alexis and Cedric pulled apart with touching smiles, the boy stood and flashed her one last smile before walking to whoever called him. Lexi followed a few seconds later, still shocked after what had just happened.

Ron and Hermione had left so she went to stand beside Harry once again. Cedric's name was called for the crowd and he took a deep breath.

"Hey, Diggory!" the boy turned to Lexi one last time, "Don't die."
