It was an hour or so later and everyone but Ginny and Alexis had left the courtyard to do other things. The two girls were chatting when they saw Fleur walk into the yard with her friends following her, at the same time Ron looked like he was chasing after her.

"Oh no..." Ginny said when she realised what her brother was doing.

The pair watched as Ron tried to ask Fleur to the ball, but he almost shouted after her when she walked away looking almost terrified.

"Oh no indeed." Lexi said as she grabbed her wand and the two girls ran up to Ron, Lexi rushing an apology to Fleur.

Ron looked mortified at what he'd just done.

"Ronald you complete idiot!" Ginny scolded him.

But Ron didn't respond, he was much too shocked to comprehend what was going on. Ginny and Lexi shared a look before dragging Ron up to Gryffindor Tower, receiving many quizzical looks from other students.

As they came through the portrait everyone parted out of their way as the two girls dumped Ron onto a chair by the fire and sat around him, people gathering, including his brothers and Harry.

"What's up, Ron?" said Harry.

Ron looked up at Harry, a sort of blind horror in his face.

"Why did I do it?" he said wildly. "I don't know what made me do it!

"What?" said Harry, looking to the girls.

"He— er— just asked Fleur Delacour to go to the ball with him," said Ginny. She looked as though she was fighting back a smile, but she kept patting Ron's arm sympathetically.

"You what?' said Harry.

"I don't know what made me do it!" Ron gasped again. "What was I playing at? There were people—all around—I've gone mad—everyone watching! I was just walking past her in the courtyard—walking with her friends—and it sort of came over me—and I asked her!"

Ron moaned and put his face in his hands. He kept talking, though the words were barely distinguishable.

"She looked at me like I was a sea slug or something. Didn't even answer. And then—I dunno—Ginny and Lexi saved me."

"She's part veela," said Harry. "You were right - her grandmother was one. It wasn't your fault."

"Did you find someone?" Ron asked hurriedly like his life depended on it.

Harry sighed and nodded his head, "I asked Cho to go with me just now actually, right after Diggory rejected her again," Harry said dully, "and she said yeah."

Ginny had suddenly stopped smiling, Lexi reached around the chair and rubbed her arm, no one noticed but Ginny smiled thankfully at her.

"This is mad," said Ron. "I'm the only one left who hasn't got anyone - well, except Neville. Hey - guess who he asked? Hermione!"

The two boys discussed what Neville had told Ron for a minute, Ginny and Lexi just sharing sympathetic glances.

"Don't!" said Ginny, annoyed. "Don't laugh -"
