On a Sunday morning, Saint sent me an address for our meetup. It turned out to be a karaoke room, and he ordered some beer for some reason.

Confused, I asked, "So, why are we here?"

Saint motioned for me to sit down and seemed a bit off ever since we met at the mall's front gate.

"You know Amanda, right?" he asked. "There's something suspicious going on with her."

"Really? What do you mean?" I furrowed my brows, curious.

"Yesterday morning, I saw her going into the cafe where I usually have breakfast," Saint started explaining.

"But you were out of town yesterday, right?" I interjected.

"Exactly! That's the weird part. What was she doing there when she doesn't have any reason to be there? Heng told me her workplace has nothing to do with that area," Saint continued. "And here's the thing: I saw her meeting someone, a girl with her face all covered up with a hat, mask, and sunglasses. I couldn't see who she was."

"So you think Amanda is up to something strange?" I clarified.

"Yes, exactly! And it gets even stranger. After Amanda left the cafe, Freen's mom showed up to talk to that girl. She handed her an envelope that looked like it had money in it. Then the girl left," Saint said, looking serious. "And Mrs. Chankimha hasn't been home since that video scandal. Do you see where I'm going with this?"

"Wait, are you saying Mrs. Chankimha might be involved in the video scandal?" I asked, puzzled.

"Yes, I think she might have paid someone to edit the video and ruin Freen's reputation. Freen had all the shares under her name, and some went to you and Becken. Mrs. Chankimha must be furious," he explained.

"But why would she do that to her own daughter?" I couldn't wrap my head around it.

"I don't know. It's puzzling. I thought she loved Freen more than anything, but things changed after Mr. Chankimha signed the will," Saint said with a sigh, taking a sip of his beer.

"What should I do then?" I asked, concerned.

"Just make sure Freen doesn't tell her mother anything for now. I'll investigate this further, but let's keep it to ourselves until we find out the truth," Saint advised.

"Got it. I won't say a word," I assured him.

As I was about to get up, Saint held my hand and brought up something else.

"And also, I don't think Faye is biologically related to Freen," he said. "She's supposed to be my daughter too since I was the sperm donor. But I don't feel the same connection with her like I did when I first met Becken. There's something strange about it, Becky. I hope I'm wrong."

My heart pounded as I thought about it. Freen and Faye looked so much alike, but now there seemed to be some mystery around their relationship.

"Help me get some DNA samples from Faye, please," Saint requested.

I nodded in understanding, knowing he needed answers. But I couldn't help but wonder why he didn't talk to Freen about this first.

"Saint, why do you seem like you're hiding something from me?" I questioned him, trying to read his expression.

He avoided eye contact and looked uneasy. It was obvious he was keeping something from me.

"It's nothing, Becky," he deflected, gently pushing me away.

"Don't lie to me, Saint. We're in this together, remember? I need to know everything," I insisted, staring at him closely.

He blushed and tried to look away, but I could tell he was holding back.

"I promise, you'll know everything. I've never kept anything from you," he finally said, rolling his eyes playfully.

I couldn't help but tease him by flicking his forehead, making him groan in response. He rubbed his forehead, pretending to be annoyed.

"I won't keep you any longer. I have a meeting with Freen. I should go now," Saint said, checking his phone.

"But Freen is with Faye," I reminded him.

"She's already at the company. Maybe she's not with Faye anymore," Saint replied, showing me a message from Freen. "You should head home. Becken's looking for you. He messaged me."

I was surprised at how close he and Becken seemed to have become.

It made me wonder when that happened.
