Pen Name: Holly Shmit

Username: HollyShmit

Is your pen name your legal name? If no, then how did you make up one?

No it is not my actual name. I chose Holly Shmit because it sounds like Holy Shit - which just describes my life. And I hate my real name. It's very boring and common.

How many books have you published till date?

I have published about 5 books so far if you don't count the ones I've unpublished.

What are you future projects?

My future projects are currently to try and get physically published within the next year. I'm finishing up with my golden girl trilogy soon and focusing on my fantasy trilogy as well. There's a lot of unpublished books that I want to get published again too.

What is writing to you?

To describe what writing is to me would not do it justice. Its my escape from the real world. I wish real life was exciting and dangerous and adventurous, but the only place I can truly find that journey, is in my writing.

Is being an author, your long time dream or a hidden passion you found out later?

Being an author has always been a part of me, but I only recently leaned I want it as a profession. I still have books that I write when I was four. True, they might only be 5 pages long and littered with spelling errors, but they count as stories.

What genre books you like to work on?

My favorite genre yo write in is fantasy. Epic fantasy to be more precise. There's magic in creating new worlds and cultures. But the genre that's doing well for me is teen fiction and action.

If we challenge you to write a book of another genre we suggest, then would you take it up?

Depends. I barely have time to write as it is. I don't think I have a problem with writing in unfamiliar genres. It's just if I have the time.

Writing is a reality that paints a beautiful fantasy. What do you think are the charms of writing fiction/non fictional books?

I guess the charms of writing fiction is that you get to live another life. Through your characters, you are on an adventure as well.

What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?

Game of Thrones was my absolute favorite TV series, but season 8 was disappointing. I really love the books however!

Who are your favorite authors in and out of wattpad?

I don't really have favorite authors on Wattpad. But I loveeee Sarah J Maas, Derek Landy and Charles Dickens.

Name few of your close wattpad friends.
What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?

My very best friend on Wattpad is Jem. Her username is Jemlovesskylox and she's been my friend since my very first account, before I had any reads on any of my books. I've always said I'd dedicate my first published book to her.

Who is your favorite actor/actress?

My favorite actor was Heath Ledger before he unfortunately passed away.

Who is your favorite Villain you couldn’t help but love?

Movie wise, Loki, but book wise I really loved Rhysand when he appeared as a villain and even some of my own characters that I don't want to spoil. I love writing villains more than I love writing heroes.

What are your hobbies other than writing and reading?

Other hobbies? Hmmm... I love painting and drawing - anything artsy really. I also love sport and theatre acting. Does eating junk food count as a hobby? Sleeping perhaps? Those are my favorites.

What are your hidden talents?

Hidden talents? I'd say knowing every word to Shaggy's Mister Boombastic song.

Who is your first celebrity crush?

Heath Ledger

What is the most embarrassing situation that you have ever been through?

My most embarrassing situation ever was the same day I found out I couldn't sing for shit. It was a talent competition and I was 12 and not aware I wasn't the next Adele. I auditioned with Call Me Maybe and it was horrible. My crush witnessed it and the video went viral at school. Some of my old school pals still can't get over it.

One craziest thing you have ever done?

I've done a LOT of crazy stuff. If we're not talking about when I'm drunk, I'd say burning down the shed behind my house or chasing an intruder away with a paint brush.

There are many authors who just started their journey and many readers who want to write but has no courage to do so. Please give them a tip and a word of encouragement.

The best tip I can give writers that are starting out, is to write what you want to read. I have 2 YouTube videos where I go more in depth, but personally I got a lot of reads the day I didn't care about getting a lot of reads.

Last but not the least, have you ever dreamt of writing your own comic?

Why yes I have dreamt about writing my own comic. I drew the comics for my old school's newspaper. It was pretty fun.
