Pen Name: Taylor Hale

Username: solacing

Is your pen name your legal name? If no, then how did you make up one?

No, my pen name is not my legal name. Taylor is my real first name, but Hale is not my last name - not 100% sure where it came from, I just wanted a name that didn't give away my real identity. I guess I thought Hale sounded nice. :)

How many books have you published till date?

I only have one upcoming traditionally published novel, THE SUMMER I DROWNED. But on Wattpad, I have completed six YA novels (not all of which are available on the platform currently).

What are your future projects?

Tons! Darkland is one I'm plotting, I'm always working on Chasing Constellations, and I have some big news coming up about another exciting project I'll be working on.

What is writing to you?

Basically everything. It's how I express myself, how I forge my identity, and even how I make money these days. I think it's so magical to be able to share the worlds and characters that live inside my head. It's my favourite thing in the whole world :-)

Is being an author, your long time dream or a hidden passion you found out later?

Hidden passion until I was about 20. Before that, I just wrote fanfic and never knew I could actually become published or have a career. Wattpad changed all that for me.

What genre books you like to work on?

Teen Fiction and Mystery/Thriller. Sometimes New Adult Romance!

If we challenge you to write a book of another genre we suggest, then would you take it up?

Ha, maybe!

Then we would love to read a Vampire book from you soon.

Writing is a reality that paints a beautiful fantasy. What do you think are the charms of writing fiction/non fictional books?

I think creating characters who people can fall in love with or relate to is very magical.

Who are your favorite authors in and out of wattpad?

MegHahn mmlemonworld bateaux simonesaidwhat  have written some of the best you'll find on this site. But I have more authors I love in my reading lists.

Outside of Wattpad, I've enjoyed the work of Rebecca Maizel, Suzanne Young, and Kara Thomas. I admit I'm not much of a reader LMFAO.

What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?

I rewatched LOST a while ago and still love it - gained a new appreciation for some characters now that I'm an adult, and realized I detest characters who I previously loved as a kid.

Who is your favorite actor/actress?

Oh god I don't know lmao. I'm not really into celebs. Logan Lerman is super cute but I don't watch his movies (sorry!).

Who is your favorite Villain you couldn't help but love?

Itachi Uchiha from Naruto, although his story is much more complex than just being a villain. 10/10 storyline.

What are your hobbies other than writing and reading?

I'm pretty into gaming, although not as much anymore because I really dedicate most of my time to writing.

What are your hidden talents?

I'm very good at Smash Bros. I guess I'm decent at art and photography too... even went to an art school for a year in high school. But sadly it wasn't for me. The talent might have been there, but the dedication wasn't, rendering any talent I had useless. :P

Who is your first celebrity crush?

Probably Tom Delonge or Mark Hoppus from Blink 182 (I can't remember which one I liked more/first)

What is the most embarrassing situation that you have ever been through?

Ha, not telling. But I will tell a writing related one. I failed creative writing TWICE in high school because I dropped out both times and could never be honest about my work. The second time I took it was while I was on my "victory lap" (grade 13) and we were forced to go around the room and pitch a story out loud, and I was too scared to admit that I was really into teen fic/romance so I just... pitched some really weird story and the whole room looked really weirded out. To this day I can't bear to think about the looks on my classmates' faces. Mortifying.

One craziest thing you have ever done?

Walked forty minutes at 3am through an incredibly sketchy neighbourhood to have a mediocre hookup with a mediocre guy who sent me walking home again at 5am alone. I did a lot of crazy things for mediocre boys when I was a teenager. *cringe*

There are many authors who just started their journey and many readers who want to write but has no courage to do so. Please give them a tip and a word of encouragement.

Just do it! Create a profile, be anonymous - whatever it takes to feel comfortable. Ease into sharing your ideas. Once you start posting more, it'll stop being so scary, I promise! Everyone starts at zero followers.

Last but not the least, have you ever dreamt of writing your own comic?

Yeah!!! I was really into the idea of creating manga when I was a teenager LMAO.
